Longitudinal Research Elective
New York University · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The Longitudinal Research Elective provides students with the opportunity to gain elective credit for research completed in addition to their required Summer Research Fellowship (6-weeks) and Areas of Concentration Stage 3 Scholarly Project. Students will spend at least 35 hours (equivalent to 1-week elective credit) doing research in their chosen field.[GA2.1][RK2.2][PM2.3] Students may not claim more than 2 weeks (70 hours) of elective credit through Longitudinal Research Electives. Unlike traditional two-week introductory electives that provide an intensive but brief experience, this longitudinal format allows students to complete research over time and in a variety of contexts.
