Catalog description

This course examines the past, present, and future of the Asian Beauty industry, focusing on the contexts of China and Japan. It explores the rise of Shanghai and Tokyo as fashion capitals, covering topics such as fashion marketing strategies, the fast fashion phenomenon, the adoption of sustainable practices within the regional supply chain, and the influence of technology on fashion design and production. Additionally, the course discusses the impact of e-commerce and social media marketing on the industry. Through case studies and scholarly literature, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the fashion business in the region. Prerequisite: Not suitable for first semester freshmen Fulfillment: CORE IPC; IMB major IMA/IMB Elective Courses.
