Catalog description

The Big Questions Seminar welcomes students as members of a community of learners. Through an interdisciplinary study of various disciplines, periods, and cultures, students are asked to engage with important questions that concern all of us as human beings such as, but not limited to: What is the moral difference between humans and animals that justifies us treating animals so differently from humans? What is love? What are equal rights? What is a fact? How do we know that we are living in the real world rather than a computer simulation? This discussion-based seminar based on targeted reading serves as an initiation into life in the academy.
