Catalog description

This interdisciplinary, cross-school global field intensive focuses on public policy, global health, and questions of Intersectionality in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Guiding questions include: What is health security? What are the strengths and weaknesses of existing institutional frameworks in tackling global health crises? Is there a role for other transnational actors? How are health crises being increasingly securitized? How do matters of Intersectionality affect policy questions, research, and implementation? This course will integrate public health disciplines for emergency action to provide students with a knowledge base and foundation of skills to design and implement strategies in disease prevention and response in outbreak and humanitarian situations.
