Catalog description

Having become the dominant literary genre in France and in the Francophone world, the novel went through a variety of movements and experimentations from the end of WWI to the middle of the 2020’s. In this course, you will discover how some masterpieces of the genre contributed to the formulation of a new subjectivity, and to the reevaluation of gender definitions; how they related to some of the major collective crises of the times; and how they tested the power of writing through various narratological and stylistic innovations.
