Advanced Writing for Television

Catalog description
This advanced course is intended for juniors and seniors who have already learned the fundamentals of TV Writing through completing both Intro to TV Writing and at least one TV pilot writing class (Half Hour and/or One Hour). Students enter the class with at least one completed original pilot that they will rewrite during this course, further developing their premises, story engines, structure, concept, characters, storylines, dialogue and pacing. Students may also work on additional drafts of their pitch pages, pitch docs or pitch decks, their BIOS and personal essays for fellowships. This class is only open to those students who have completed their three required writing classes and who have written at least one original pilot and one spec script. Prerequisites: Preparing the Teleplay and Screenplay (FMTV-UT.1015) OR Intro to TV writing ( FMTV-UT 1017 ) AND one of the following: Writing for Television: The Half Hour ( FMTV-UT 1102 ) OR Writing For Television: The Hour ( FMTV-UT 1132 ).
