Catalog description
This is an elective course on European banking and finance. Its objective is to give students a perspective on international finance with a view to its fundamental purpose, historical context, reasons for regional differences in continued EU practice and diverse approaches to further development and integration. Strong, well functioning financial markets are critical for businesses and households. They are key to achieving long-term EU goals, the twin transitions of environmental sustainability and increased competitiveness. Increased productivity growth to make the EU more attractive to both foreign and domestic investors is the stated goal of EU policy. We will explore the initial conditions including various obstacles that make the journey ahead challenging and exciting.
