Catalog description

Clinical shifts Each student will be scheduled for eight 8-hour scanning shifts in the ED at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island. These may include weekend shifts. Friday shifts consist of scanning in the morning and tape review in the afternoon, which is mandatory. Each shift is an opportunity to obtain and interpret images, under direct or indirect supervision by EM residents and US-certified faculty. Students should follow up on additional imaging studies their patients undergo, but they are not required to participate in clinical management of ED patients. The faculty will be assessing your growth on a weekly basis. In-person didactic sessions On the first Monday of the rotation, an introductory hands-on skill session will be held to introduce our ultrasound machine “knobology.”
