The Mechatronics Lab is designed to complement the theoretical aspects of the course by providing students with individual, hands-on experience in designing and testing mechatronic systems. Unlike the course's team-based, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach, the lab emphasizes independent work, where students will individually develop practical skills in integrating mechanical components, electronics, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers. Each lab session will focus on a distinct technical challenge related to core topics in mechatronics, such as sensor interfacing, actuator control, microcontroller programming, and system simulation. Through a series of structured experiments, students will build and optimize mechatronic systems, applying concepts in real-time control, automation, and system integration. The lab provides opportunities for iterative testing and refinement, fostering problem-solving abilities in a controlled, experimental environment. By the end of the lab, students will have gained the essential hands-on skills needed to design, implement, and evaluate functional mechatronic systems, preparing them for more complex projects and applications in robotics, automation, and dynamic control.
