Catalog description

This course presents many of the common analytical techniques for solving ordinary and partial differential equations with special focus on equations that appear in engineering. Solution methods for first, second, and higher-order homogeneous/inhomogeneous ordinary differential equations (ODEs) will be presented using time-domain methods, the Laplace Transforms, and Fourier Series. The response behavior of partial differential equations (PDEs), namely the Heat Equation, Laplace's Equation, and the Wave Equation will also be studied using separation of variables and the companion methods of Fourier Series, and Laplace Transform. Techniques for homogenizing and solving inhomogeneous PDEs will also be discussed.
