Catalog description

This course introduces residents to the lesson planning process with an emphasis on establishing goals for the lesson, designing effective, accessible, and inclusive lesson plans, and implementing informative assessments of students' learning and understanding. In grappling with the core question of this course, “How do I design and assess learning for all students?,” residents are encouraged to consider an uncertainty that lies at the heart of teaching and to reconsider traditional resolutions. The skills and perspectives residents acquire in developing authentic, engaging, inclusive methods to assess learning outcomes for all students also influence planning, teaching, reflection-on-teaching, re-teaching, and other professional activities such as communicating with colleagues, students, and families.
