Catalog description

Why math for machine learning? Foundational understanding of key mathematical concepts is indispensable to machine learning practitioners as it provides competitive advantage in today’s environment. One must “look under the hood”; just programming in Python is no longer enough. Why Python for machine learning? Python has become a de facto lingua franca of machine learning and most courses on machine learning, both introductory and more advanced, use Python as its implementation tool. Why math in Python for machine learning? This is the key bridge we are building. The goal is to give students a deeper mathematical understanding of the space in which they need to operate as competitive machine learning practitioners, while bringing every abstract concept to life through Python and real data. | Prerequisites: MA-UY 1024
