This course covers following topics: Review of power relationships. Power semiconductor switching devices. Rectifiers. Basic PWM dc-dc switching cells. Non-isolated and isolated PWM dc-dc converters. Control of PWM converters. Resonant and softswitching converters. Low drop-out (LDO) voltage regulators. Switched capacitor charge pumps. PWM inverters. Applications to computer equipment, portable units, distributed power systems, uninterruptible power supplies and electric drives. Power quality and EMI issues. American and International power-supply standards. | Prerequisites: Graduate status and Knowledge of Electric Energy Conversion Systems or equivalent. *Online version available.
