Teaching and Supervision Lab

Catalog description

This course centers supervision as a space where theory meets praxis, and where teaching is inseparable from power, positionality, and professional development. Students will learn about their own impact within a supervisory relationship, and how to operationalize their pedagogy into future praxis. The course functions as a "lab", where doctoral students will engage with themselves and peers within a reflective and interactive framework that encourages praxis-based principles. This course provides doctoral students with an in-depth exploration of supervision as both a pedagogical and relational practice in social work education. With a focus on the teaching and learning dimensions of supervision, students will critically engage with the roles and responsibilities of supervisors in shaping ethical, reflective, and competent social work practitioners and scholars.
