Catalog description

The web is an intrinsically creative medium whose graphical capabilities are diverse and evolving. Across the HTML, CSS, SVG, and JavaScript specifications, there are multiple ways to code images and interaction natively in the browser. This course provides a survey of interrelated drawing techniques. We explore each of them through projects involving raster graphics, vector graphics, animation, and sound. Drawing on the Web builds on foundations in web design and computer programming with a focus on the expressive potential of the open web. Together we apply markup language, style language, and programming language to networked generative art.
