Catalog description

Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the science and practice of making the design, development, and use of AI socially sustainable. This course aims to give future computing professionals the technical skills and the socially-grounded understanding necessary to incorporate algorithmic fairness, transparency, privacy, and responsible data engineering objectives into the design of AI systems. In addition to technical topics, the course includes topics in technology ethics and legal compliance. The course is structured as a combination of lectures and hands-on labs, and culminates in a hands-on project where small teams of students conduct an audit of an AI system used in decision-making. | Prerequisites: Background in data science and machine learning equivalent to an undergraduate or graduate course.
