Building on the foundation set in CHIN-SHU 421 , CHIN-SHU 422 continues the exploration of contemporary Chinese society with an enhanced focus on technological innovations, political dynamics, language developments, and modern literature. This course part involves studying diverse and sophisticated materials like modern Chinese literary works alongside scholarly and media texts, providing a comprehensive view of the changes and continuities in Chinese society. Through this advanced exploration, students will further their ability to articulate complex ideas in both written and spoken Chinese, preparing them for more specialized academic and professional pursuits. Credits earned can apply toward the Chinese minor at NYU Shanghai. Prerequisite: CHIN-SHU 421 or with the instructor’s permission. Fulfillment: GCS major advanced track Language requirement for Non-Native Chinese Speakers; Chinese minor.
