Catalog description
Develops the close connection between the microscopic world of quantum mechanics and the macroscopic world of thermodynamics. Topics include properties of gases, elementary statistical thermodynamics, and thermodynamics of single and multicomponent systems. Mathematics of Chemistry ( CHEM-UA 140 ) is strongly recommended as a prerequisite; students may substitute Linear Algebra ( MATH-UA 140 ) and/or Calculus III ( MATH-UA 123 ).
