Catalog description

This course covers both the fundamentals and most recent advances in molecular biology. We will explore the logic and mechanics underlying the regulation of gene expression as well as pathogen defense strategies in organisms ranging from bacteria to humans. The course is structured as alternating lectures and research paper discussions. Students will be introduced to cutting-edge methods in molecular biology and how scientists apply new knowledge to develop therapies and drugs.
