Catalog description

Examine important buildings from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries in New York City’s Civic Center and Financial District in Lower Manhattan, including City Hall, the Tweed Courthouse, the Woolworth Building, St. Paul’s Chapel, Trinity Church, and the US Customs House. This one-day course is held outdoors, with exterior and some interior visits to historic buildings to examine form, style, materials, and architectural features. Background on the architects and the historical context of each building are given.
