Catalog description

This course will provide the basis for the global and transregional thought and practice that is a defining feature of the NYUAD Arts and Humanities graduate programs. Students will take it in the first semester of their graduate career and set the groundwork for further study. It introduces students to contemporary theoretical literature and modes of research and practice around issues of globalization, mobility, place and publics. Students learn to situate their own research and practice in the context of global flows and meeting points. The course gives the students the basis for developing site-specific artworks, exhibitions, events and activities attentive to site, history, culture and diverse publics.
