Critical readings from Roland Barthes, Donna Haraway, Susan Sontag, Boris Groys, bell hooks, Thomas Kuhn, Mircea Eliade, John Berger, and George Kubler, as well as selections from fiction and graphic novels, are considered in relation to historical and contemporary pictures. Considers topics in philosophy, art history, science, literature, and cultural studies that are relevant to photography.
