Catalog description
This performing arts course introduces body rhythms and repertoire in Chinese Classical Dance. Students will explore the dance practices rooted in Chinese martial arts, opera, and historical sources, including texts, sculpture, and painting. The course culminates in an end-of-semester concert, where students will perform works representing the Han-Tang (Han and Tang Dynasties) style, Chinese martial arts-dance fusion, and/or Dunhuang style. Fulfillment: General elective. This course counts toward the Cross-School Dance Minor hosted by Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. Prerequisite: prior experience in dance or sports is recommended. Repeat rule: Students can take this course up to two times in total for credit.
