Laboratory Methods in Archaeology

: In this course, students will take a deep-dive into a range of methods used by archaeologists to analyze artifacts and other cultural remains to answer important questions about our human past. Students will get acquainted with key terminology and different approaches used to describe, measure, and interpret archaeological data. Different types of archaeological remains (e.g., ceramics, lithics, faunal, botanical, sedimentological, among others) will be discussed and examined through readings, lectures, and in-class exercises so that students get acquainted with the characteristics and required management/preparation required so that each material can be used as reliable evidence.
