Catalog description
This course will prepare students to understand and apply automation and advanced data analytics to common data and processes within the field of accounting. Through a series of hands on exercises and case studies, students will learn how to apply and develop automation and analytics for tasks such as extracting and cleansing data, performing accruals, revenue recognition, AP and AR processing, and automating other useful tasks, such as financial statement analysis. The curriculum will help students identify repetitive or time-consuming accounting tasks that can be performed automatically by software robots. The first half of the course will focus on identifying opportunities for automation and essential automation skills. During the second half, students will learn how to add data analytics to automation to increase the variety and usefulness of their programs.
