Catalog description
Introduces generalist social service practice; describes the skills and personal qualities necessary to be an em powering catalyst in the lives of i ndividuals, groups, and comm unities. Includes detailed discussion of the history, fields, and ethical demands of the profession. Special attention is given to the concepts of social justice and diversity, especially regarding minorities, women, and populations at risk including people of Appalachian descent. Requirements inc l ude completion of 25 hours of volunteer work in the Browning Social Service Club. Core Course: Must be passed with a grade of “C” or higher.
