Mental Health Nursing for Practical Nurses

Catalog description

This is a 2-hour credit course that combines 1 credit hour of theory and 1 credit hour of clinical. This course studies human behavior with emphasis on emotional and mental abnormalities and modes of treatment incorporating the nursing process. Theoretical concepts of mental behavioral health for all age groups are introduced, including developmental disabilities. Therapeutic communication skills in relation to providing nursing care to patients with altered thought processes are emphasized.
