Maternal Nursing for PN

Catalog description
This is a two-hour credit course that divides the 62 contact hours evenly between theory and clinical. This course utilizes principles of family -centered nursing and nursing process to focus on nursing care of the young family. Course content includes maternal health and fetal development from conception through the postpartum period. Normal physiological and psychosocial changes associated with pregnancy and their relationship to patient and family needs for nursing care and education are emphasized. The role of the practi cal nurse in obstetrical nursing is delineated in various healthcare settings. Selected nursing procedures and skills associated with the care of the obstetrical patient during pregnancy, labor, and delivery, and immediately postpartum period are introduc ed.
