Catalog description

This course will focus on the structure-function of biological macromolecules, basic enzymology, vertebrate biochemistry, and the study of vitamins, hormones, biochemical genetics, and nutrition. It will provide an overview of basic biochemistry and will emphasize on structure, nomenclature, and reactions of biologically active compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, and enzymes, a detailed examination of major pathways of cellular metabolism, regulation, underlying mechanisms, and driving forces. The material is valuable for promoting informed and creative approaches to biomedical challenges.
