g5:Ethics & Values in STEM

Catalog description

In this course, students learn about professional research ethics and the social responsibilities of scientists and engineers. They also examine the diverse roles for values throughout research and development in STEM, including judgments about funding, methodology, communication, and public engagement. The course introduces students to pressing questions about justice, equality, and democracy related to the responsibilities for technological development by surveying issues in areas such as computer science, environmental justice, global ethics, health equity, and military ethics.
