Catalog description

This class will cover traditional and modern surveying instruments and professional standards, and the basics of GIS and map preparation. Basic calculations using trigonometry, leveling and grading, surface areas and volumes, and earthworks will be covered. Equipment covered includes total stations, auto levels, surveying rods, measuring tapes, various GPS receivers, and drones. Geomatics topics include GPS systems and coordinate systems, GIS programs, map preparation, photogrammetry and digital modeling (SfM, LiDAR).Prerequisites: Junior standing or instructor permission
