Catalog description

This course explores what makes natural behavior ‘complex’ rather than simple. Phenomena examined include earthquakes, ants, forest fires, traffic jams, epidemics, flocking and non-linear wave behavior. Students learn what complex behavior is by short, hands-on modeling exercises in Python or other scientific scripting language. Instruction will be done in a hybrid, synchronous format. Access to a computer with Python or other common scripting language is necessary.
