Prerequisite: ENGL 1120 or consent of Instructor and Advisor. This course explores political, socio-economic, and cultural impacts of crime on societies. Through reading, class discussions, and films the students will compare and contrast the impact of crime on the state, its institutions,and its people in America and Europe. The key topics will reveal the role of crime in public life, the methods and integrity of law enforcement agencies, the punishment of criminals, and public perception of justice.
