Catalog description

This course will explore the basis for interactions between the microorganisms and the geosphere. Topics include redox geochemistry, microbial metabolism and the diversity of microbial lifestyles, microbe mineral interactions, contaminant degradation and bioremediation, microbial paleobiology, and the co-evolution of life and the Earth. The course will include a mandatory weekend field trip. Shares lectures with GEOL 4015, with additional expectations for graduate credit. Cross listed with GEOL 4015, GEOB 5015, HYDR 5015, BIOT 5015.
