Catalog description

This course covers the co-evolution of the geosphere and biosphere over Earth’s history. Topics include the formation and tectonic evolution of the Earth, the origin and early evolution of life, the evolution of Earth’s atmosphere and ocean, and the patterns and processes of animal and plant life, including mass extinctions, plant-weathering feedbacks, and biodiversity and biogeography from a paleobiology perspective. Field trips. Graduate standing.
