Catalog description

An in-depth study of the propagation of waves in various media. The derivation and application of the Rankine-Hugoniot jump equations. The concept of the rarefaction wave and various wave interactions. Derivation and application of the Mie-Gruneisen equation of state. The differential form of the conservation equations, as well as some numerical solutions for simple cases. Shares lecture with ME/MENG 5049, with additional expectations for graduate credit.
