Weaving I

Catalog description

Weaving is a celebrated art in the Southwest. Based on a binary system, it has deep roots in the history of technology, making it an exceptionally well-placed subject at New Mexico Tech. In this class, you will learn the fundamentals of how handwoven cloth is made, including: yarn selection, setting up the loom, weaving, finishing, project planning, and regional history. Students have the opportunity to weave three class projects and an optional final project of their own design. By the end of the class students will have an understanding of basic weaving vocabulary, methodology, and design.
