Catalog description

Principles of soil mechanics and foundation engineering. Immediate and time dependent settlements, service loads, lateral loads, loading, approximate analysis methods, performance requirements, shallow foundations, lateral earth pressure, design of retaining walls, deep foundations, special footings, slope stability, and computer modeling of foundations. (Same as ME 5031). (cross-listed with CE 4013; additional course expectations for graduate credit)
