Introduction to finite element analysis (FEA) for Civil Engineering students. Students will learn the fundamentals of FEA, and they will learn to use software packages to analyze complex structures. Topics include: 1-systems, trusses, 2-D problems, axis-symmetric solids, beams, frames, and some types of 3-D problems. (cross-listed with CEE 5001; additional course expectations for graduate credit).
