Catalog description

This course explores the ethical dimensions of current and emerging applications of artificial intelligence. Students will engage with key philosophical questions, including the definition of AI and the moral status of advanced AI agents. The course examines pressing societal issues, such as labor automation and technological unemployment, ownership and distributive justice in AI development, the influence of AI on media disinformation, and concerns surrounding plagiarism. Future-oriented topics will address the possibility of AI exceeding human cognitive abilities and the implications of the Technological Singularity hypothesis. Through critical readings, discussion, and analytical writing, students will develop a robust framework for evaluating the ethical challenges posed by AI technologies.
