Secondary Education Graduate Practicum

Catalog description

Develop professional skills, dispositions, and understanding of secondary youth, content, and pedagogy through discussion seminar and practicum with public education mentor teachers. Practicum includes focused observations, study of classroom language and culture, introduction to lesson planning and student assessment. Requires 45 hours of practicum field experience. Placements are coordinated between NMSU Teacher Education Program and NM school districts. Students are required to secure their own transportation to and from the field experience school site. May be repeated up to 3 credits.
