Catalog description

The primary emphasis of Evidence-based Physical Therapy is to provide the student with skills to become critical consumers of the rehabilitation literature and inform their clinical practice. EBPT2 builds on EBPT1 and expands the critical analysis process to various types of study designs. Students will review current published physical therapy studies and discuss strengths and risk of bias as it pertains to applying the study findings to PT practice. Students will learn how to calculate and interpret common statistics in physical therapy and epidemiological research. The “mini-capstone” continues in EPBT2 with emphasis on synthesizing the information from the critical appraisal worksheets to write an informed discussion and clinical bottom line. Concepts learned in EBPT will be a cornerstone to understanding other research as students advance in the program.
