Critical Methodologies and Social Justice Interventions

Catalog description

This course is designed to challenge the student to examine the correlation between the values of social justice, the literature on the social determinants of health (or causes of the causes, i.e. the environment in which a person lives, works, & plays), health equity and poor health outcomes, focusing on New Mexico. The course will explore the intersectionality of culture, race, class, gender, education, and other forms of identity, from a socio-political context, with implications for policy, practices, and programs that can transform socio-environmental conditions towards health.
