Welcome to the Frontline: essential Public Health Roles for MD's

Catalog description

This course will prepare medical students and residents for their essential roles in the public health system, including public health surveillance, vital data collection, emergency preparedness, and health policy and advocacy. Students will meet experts in each of these four areas and demonstrate competency in each essential role through completion of assessments and demonstrated proficiency in related core skill sets. During the semester, students will plan and present a 30-minute seminar or recruit an expert speaker to present a 30-minute seminar, on a topic of their choice related to one of the essential roles. Each student will also create a 4-6 page paper or a 1-2 page issue or policy brief. A rubric will be provided for the seminar assignment and writing assignments.
