In the CTV-ECMO ICU rotation, students will receive a comprehensive look at the field of post-operative critical care specific to the cardiovascular surgical patient, thoracic surgery patients, post- interventional cardiology patients, sub-massive and massive pulmonary embolism patients and patients requiring cardiopulmonary support. The CTV-ECMO ICU provides trainees with the opportunity to care for a wide variety of critically ill patients with the source of their illness being the cardiovascular system. The working environment is dynamic and fast-paced, and the patient care is often complex. The CTV-ECMO ICU follows a multidisciplinary approach involving critical care physicians, acute care nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, and dieticians with specific interest in cardiovascular critical care.
