Anesthesia Principles & Practice III

Catalog description

This course prepares students for their clinical rotations and anesthetic management in specialty cases through a focus on the clinical relevance of human physiology that pertains to patients in the perioperative period. This course builds on students’ knowledge of pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, and anesthesiology to create anesthetic perioperative management plans that is individualized for surgical and patient specific needs. Using didactic instruction, clinical data, and case scenarios, students improve their understanding of how the administration of anesthetic agents and the stress of surgery impacts both normal, acute, and chronic physiology in the perioperative period.
