Catalog description

This Instrumentation and Monitoring course will teach students the clinical application of anesthesia instrumentation through knowledge in circuits and engineering concepts. Monitors and devices used in the operating room are studied with respect to the fundamentals of operation, calibration, and interpretation of data. Students will learn principles, application, and interpretation of various monitoring modalities including ECG, invasive and non-invasive blood pressure, oximetry, cardiac output, respiratory gas analysis, and respiration. The course covers advanced concepts of arterial pressure monitoring and intracranial pressure monitoring.
