Catalog description

This course is a simulation and laboratory-based course, integrating immersive experience in clinical anesthesia. The coursework focuses on an introduction to experiences in the operating room with emphasis on the fundamental procedures and techniques used in administering an anesthetic. The knowledge and skills learned will prepare students to work within the anesthesia care team. Skills learned will be airway management, intubation, IV and arterial line placement, monitoring and placement, anesthesia machine, medication safety, sterile techniques, and key steps in induction, management and emergence of an anesthetic.
