Pharmacology for Anesthesia I introduces students to the study of pharmacology with clinical anesthesia applications. This course focuses on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of major drug classifications used in the practice of anesthesia, including inhaled anesthetics, opioids, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, anticholinesterases, anticholinergics, neuromuscular blockers, and adrenergic agonists and antagonists. Students will be given an overview of drug actions, interactions, metabolism, methods of administration, dosages, side effects, precautions, and contraindications.
