Catalog description

This course introduces students to the operating room, emphasizing the fundamental procedures and techniques used in administering an anesthetic. The course prepares and educates students to work within the Anesthesia Care Team (ACT) as an Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA). There will be an introduction to the process of induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia. Beyond didactic lectures and coursework, students will gain hands on experience through clinical immersion weeks. Coursework will parallel to laboratory and simulation-based courses by introducing the student to the operating room and the various elements of providing a safe anesthetic.
